Methodology

We check 20 factors across 4 categories

Technical SEO

The behind-the-scenes setup Google uses to crawl, index, and trust your site — HTTPS, sitemaps, page speed, structured data.

Whether your title tags, descriptions, and page content give Google — and visitors — enough to work with.

Social & Sharing

How your links look when shared on social media — Open Graph tags, Twitter Cards, and favicon.

Trust Signals

Whether visitors can easily find your phone number, email, and address — key for local SEO and conversions.

FAQ

Common questions

What does my score actually mean?

Your score is the percentage of our 20 checks your page passes, spread evenly across four categories. A higher score means fewer technical and content gaps that could be holding your site back in search results.

How do I actually fix the issues it finds?

Each result includes a plain-English explanation, but if you want step-by-step instructions for the most common issues, check out our free guide to common website SEO issues — or just reach out and we'll walk you through it.

Why does my site need HTTPS?

Google has confirmed HTTPS as a ranking signal since 2014. Just as importantly, browsers flag non-HTTPS sites as "Not Secure" right in the address bar, which drives visitors away before they even see your content.

Why does page speed affect my Google ranking?

Google uses Core Web Vitals — a set of page speed and stability measurements — as a ranking factor. Slow sites also see higher bounce rates, which signals a poor experience back to Google over time.

What is schema markup, and why should I have it?

Structured data (schema) helps Google understand what's actually on your page. It can unlock rich results in search — star ratings, FAQs, business details — which improve how often people click your listing.

Why does a meta description matter if I don't see it on the page?

Your meta description is the snippet Google shows under your title in search results. A well-written one directly influences whether someone clicks your listing instead of a competitor's.

Is alt text on images really an SEO factor?

Yes. Alt text helps Google understand image content (which matters for image search traffic) and is required for accessibility — a factor that increasingly feeds into how Google evaluates overall site quality.

My score is low, but I still show up on Google — why?

This tool checks on-page technical and content factors, not your current rankings directly. You can still rank despite some gaps, but fixing them typically improves click-through rate, rankings for competitive terms, and conversions over time.

What does this tool check, and what does it NOT check?

It checks 20 on-page factors across Technical SEO, Content, Social Sharing, and Trust Signals. It does not check your backlinks, Google Business Profile completeness, keyword rankings, or how you compare to competitors — those need a deeper look, which is something we can help with directly.

How often should I re-run this?

After making any changes to your site, and every few months even if you haven't — it's a quick way to catch regressions, like a redesign accidentally removing your meta tags.

Is my website data stored or shared with anyone?

No. The tool reads your page's public HTML in real time to run the checks. Results aren't stored or shared with anyone — though it's worth noting this is the same public HTML anyone can already see by visiting your site directly.
